Ford Fusion

2013-2018 Ford Fusion

2013-2018 Lincoln MKZ

The big change from 2012 to 2013 was that the seat belt buckles are now rigid for all 3 seats in back… not a good change! All the buckles being rigid means that now the center is too narrow for many car seats & boosters.

The other change was a slight modification in the head restraint for 2C where it is now more flush with the back of the vehicle seat rather than protruding out from it.

The innermost lower anchors (belonging to the side seats) are spaced 18.1 inches apart and may be borrowed to install a car seat in the center so long as the car seat manufacturer is OK with this wider spacing (standard spacing is 11 inches). See here for more about which car seats are OK with a wider spacing for the lower anchors.

2011-2012 Ford Fusion

2011-2012 Lincoln MKZ

The only change for 2011 is that the head restraints for 2D & 2P are different – they now angle forward as they go upwards. See the 2010 (below) for all other information about the buckles & center LATCH as it remains the same for 2011-2012.

2010 Ford Fusion

2010 Lincoln MKZ

2010 sees the introduction of a head restraint for the center seat – which is adjustable. The side head restraints are changed as well – and are now adjustable as well. All the head restraints protrude prominently several inches from the back of the vehicle seat – and will likely need to be removed for forward-facing car seats & high back boosters to fit properly. All the buckles remain flexible (a good thing).

2006-2009 Ford Fusion

2007-2009 Lincoln MKZ

The Fusion was introduced in 2006 and the MKZ in 2007 (they are the same car). All the buckles are flexible, which is good – but the bad news is that there is no head restraint in 2C, and the head restraints in 2D & 2P are fixed, so straight tether straps will have to go over top which isn’t ideal.
