The Impala was redesigned for 2014. The head restraints in 2D & 2P are now adjustable & removable… but 2C now does not have a head restraint. There are 5 lower anchors – for the added ability to install a car seat in the center using the lower anchors, but this doesn’t tend to work very well as the car seat is off center and often won’t install securely because it is unevenly positioned on the center hump, and will block the seat belt buckle for anyone sitting in 2D. The buckles for all 3 seats are flexible and the center is fairly wide.
The head restraints for all 3 seats are fixed and protrude a significant amount – making the proper installation of taller forward-facing seats and most any high back booster exceptionally problematic. The one really good feature of this back seat is that there are 6 lower anchors that should be able to be used all at the same time to do 3-across.
