The Prius Prime was first introduced for 2017. It is very similar to the redesigned 2016 Prius – except that it only has 2 seats in back, not 3. Since the 2017-2018 Prius has the most useless of center seats – we like that the Prime doesn’t try to fake having 3 seats and instead just puts 2 generously wide seats in the back and a nice console in the middle. In the Prime, you won’t be tempted to add a 3rd kid or adult in back… because you can’t – but in the regular Prius you’ll be tempted to because there is that itsy bitsy center seat that is just teasing you. For those looking for a hybrid with a spacious back seat for TWO this is a great option.
